You will be joining a forward-thinking team Specialising in the development of large-scale, grid-connected solar and energy storage farms you would be instrumental in delivering to the UK market. The business offers a hybrid working structure with one day a month minimum office based. The offices in London have a super modern and friendly environment with fantastic facilities, the Company’s employment package is enviable.
The Role
The right candidate will Secure all land and access rights for easements for solar farm/BESS projects, either under the DCO or TCPA planning process. Oversee the company’s retained agents in a targeted search for land rights. Lead negotiations on heads-of-terms for options to lease, or purchase land needed to secure easements ,through to formal agreement. Liaise with the Company’s solicitors on documentation and due diligence regarding the projects’ property transactions. Lead any compulsory acquisition of land necessary to secure land rights for solar/BESS projects. Negotiate or support negotiation on any necessary legal documents such as AHA surrenders for the projects. Make site visits and record project data within the company’s GIS system. Maintain strong relationships with landowners, agents and consultants Think about projects in the round to allow the best chance of success, including for example tying together multiple land deals, seek to minimise project costs and mitigate planning and construction risk. Support the project managers in managing local project stakeholders to reduce risk. Assist in the preparation of pre-application material or planning feasibility work. Oversee Budgeting, costs ,and timeframes for projects through to legal exchange. Work with the Grid, design and Business development teams to assess project Cap Ex forecasts and financial appraisals. Create and maintain comprehensive project documentation , maintain project tracker spreadsheets, present weekly and monthly updates to internal stakeholders. Liaise with internal Grid and GIS (mapping) teams to create maps from inception through to legal exchange. Stay abreast of any engagement the team has with DNO planners to understand in more detail the content of grid routes or type of connections.
The Candidate
The successful candidate will demonstrate that they have lead easement process for DCO and utility projects. Prior experience on renewable energy projects will be preferred, although not strictly necessary. Adapting to new challenges and learning swiftly. Proficient with MS Office and comfortable at creating models on Excel to assist with designs/assessment. Initiative, a “can-do” attitude and a high desire to succeed. Bachelor’s Degree in Planning, Rural Surveying or related discipline, Ideally a Master’s Degree and/or Professional Membership in a related discipline, RICS preferred. Ability and confidence in dealing with clients in a professional manner as well as being a team player.
