About
Our client is a leading rural surveying and estate management practice recognised for delivering strategic farm management and advisory services across Cambridgeshire. They're seeking a Farm Management Consultant to join their farming team and support the delivery of high-quality advice to their established client base.
Position overview
You'll support the farming team with farm management activities including financial analysis, record keeping, and harvest account management. You'll prepare budgets, cashflow forecasts and variance reports, manage scheme applications, conduct farm visits, and provide technical advice on arable and livestock enterprises to help clients maximise their land.
Responsibilities
- Prepare budgets, cashflow forecasts and quarterly variance reports
- Manage contract farming agreements and harvest accounts
- Support SFI and Countryside Stewardship scheme applications
- Conduct regular farm visits and client consultations
- Provide technical advice on arable and livestock enterprises
- Advise on farm diversification and environmental issues
- Ensure compliance with government legislation and regulations
- Develop client relationships and drive business development
- Prepare internal and external reports and analysis
- Maintain and develop technical skills through training
Requirements
- Previous experience in a farm consultancy or advisory role
- Strong understanding of farming and food production systems
- Hands-on practical farm experience
- Excellent research, analytical and numeracy skills
- Strong written and oral communication abilities
- Proficient in MS Office and relevant IT systems
- Team player with strong relationship-building skills
- Commercially astute with business development mindset
- Self-motivated, ambitious and curious approach to work
