Our client is a well-established rural consultancy practice seeking a Rural Surveyor - Associate to join their team in the South. If you hold RICS full membership with Registered Valuer status and CAAV Fellowship, with 1-3 years' post-qualification experience in rural land and property, this is an excellent opportunity to grow your career within a supportive consultancy environment that values both expertise and personal service.
Position overview
As a Rural Surveyor - Associate, you will provide comprehensive rural professional services to a growing client base across land and estate management, farm administration, and valuation work. You will work collaboratively with experienced surveyors and other departments, building your own client relationships whilst contributing to the practice's wider success. This role offers genuine scope to develop your expertise, manage varied projects, and support team members including graduates working towards their APC.
Responsibilities
- Deliver land and rural estate management services including rent reviews, tenancy setup, planning advice, and farm or land sales
- Administer contract farming agreements and manage farm and environmental grant scheme applications
- Provide valuation advice, project appraisal and planning support to landowners and developers
- Develop and manage your own client base, building long-term professional relationships
- Collaborate with the wider rural team and other practice departments on multi-disciplinary projects
- Support and mentor team members, particularly graduates progressing through their APC
- Manage deadlines and workflow confidently across multiple fee-earning activities
Requirements
- Degree level qualification (2:1 or above) in RICS-accredited degree programme
- Full RICS membership with Registered Valuer status
- Fellowship of the CAAV
- 1-3 years post-qualification experience in rural land and property
- Broad experience across property valuation, sales and project management
- Proficient with Office 365, Land App, Alto, STAR and general IT systems
- Strong organisational skills and confident deadline management
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills across all stakeholder levels
- Problem-solving approach with attention to detail and integrity
- Client service focus with confidence in networking and relationship building
- Proactive, research-competent and professional in approach
- Flexible team player comfortable working with multiple fee earners
